Heritage’s ministry for young adults and young families is called dia•spora, which is the New Testament word for “scattered about.” Jesus says the kingdom of God moves outward like the scattering of seed to all places and people. The Spirit draws us together that we might be sent out. Our hope is that dia•spora will gather young adults and young families who spread the good news across the world.

We’re describing dia•spora as a community in 3 acts.  Those acts are:

•    love—The kingdom of God is like a small seed. Likewise our faith is best nurtured in small communities of love. Therefore dia•spora begins not as a large event but as lifegroups. dia•spora lifegroups have the modest aim of fostering friendship through the sharing of our personal stories. If you want to be a part of dia•spora, join a lifegroup.

•    mission—God’s love is not self-enclosed but moves outward to those on the margins, so too must we move out toward those in our city and the world. All dia•spora lifegroups are encouraged to commit themselves to one of Heritage’s ministries to the unreached, the poor, the sick, the widow, the orphan, the stranger and the prisoner.

•    worship—dia•spora will gather on the second Sunday of the month at 5pm for worship, to meet with God and each other, in order that we might be empowered for love and mission.

College Students at Heritage

Many students attend Heritage who are heavily involved in campus ministries such as OSU Campus Crusade for Christ, OSU Young Life, and Otterbein Christian Fellowship. For students not involved in a campus ministry, we encourage you to be a part of the Young Adults ministry. If you would be interested in joining, hosting, or being a part of a college or young adults life group, please contact Joel Esala.
