Peru Amazon 2012 (6)
The year started off with a trip to Peru. The team traveled up the Amazon to the Shipibo people to provide medical care to the community. They then spent time with the deaf community ministry in Lima. -
Kenya 2011 (7)
The Kenya team went to support activities in the community ministering to HIV patients. This is often through assisting the hospital, outpatient care, facilitating support groups and pastoral care. They also spoke at the pastor's marriage conference and an HIV orphange. -
El Salvador 2011 (7)
The major thrust of this trip was to offer a medical clinic, small pharmacy and chiropractic care. Several others on the team also built a house. They enjoyed the company of many children and locals. -
Turkey Trip 2011 (6)
The 2011 Turkey Team offered counseling to workers and a childrens' program to their kids. The children's team offered a fun program to minister to the kids, while the counseling team provided counseling to overseas ministers who face personal and relational challenges with little access to help and support. The team also provided a daily Member Care and Leadership Development training that included several different topics. -
Lima, Peru 2011 (5)
The team partnered with a small, local church to reach out to the local youth and deaf community. They played soccer and volleyball at a nearby park with youth. They also helped to rebuild a home for an elderly women, Maria, who reaches out to the poor around her in the name of Christ. -
Honduras, Lenca 2011 (7)
Through GCLA connections this team traveled to a remote village to help build a wood working shop. Even though the trek to get to the village was quite difficult, the work they accomplished was worth it. God's provision of tools, equipment, good health and fellowship made this a rewarding trip. -
North Africa 2011 (6)
This team enjoyed ministering to workers in country. It was a wonderful time to encourage, listen and love. They also enjoyed experiencing local culture and custums. -
Somali Summer Club 2011 (11)
Over 40 adults, teens and kids volunteered to help with the Somali Summer Club the last week in June. Each day Somali Bantu kids showed up for a morning of singing, stories, crafts and games! They then had a picnic lunch before wrapping things up. The week ended with lots of hugs and tears, not wanting to say good bye. -
Haiti 2011 (2)
The Team's base camp was located within Mision Rescate, a ministry located in the heart of Port Au Prince dedicated to orphans, most of which had lost parents in the 2010 earthquake. In addition to feeding and ministering to those children, the team visited two other orphanages in the mountains of Haiti outside of Port Au Prince. Several days were spent organizing medical supplies and creating an inventory, some of which they delivered to the local hospital in Port Au Prince and another nearby medical clinic. There were several opportunities to evangalize and a lot of soccer was played. The team spent much of the trip outside of their comfort zone, but the Lord was clearly there each step of the way. Please pray for Haiti as the country is still suffering greatly from the effects of the earthquake. -
Azerbaijan Trip 2011 (6)
This team of four ministered to the people and workers there for ten days in May. They brought vitamins, a much needed and hard to get commodity. They also held health clinics for the children and had a kids' camp. They had wonderful visits with workers too, helping them with practical needs. -
Honduras, Choluteca Team 2011 (8)
The team to Honduras had many great opportunities to minister to the people. They held a soccer tournament with teens, a medical clinic, met with kids at the Oasis orphanage and hosted a women's conference. -
North Africa Team 2010 (6)
This thirteen day trip kept busy and moving. They saw local culture, prayer walked and helped with a retreat. They planned and ran children's programming for the retreat along with food prep. Locals were hospitable, friendly and welcoming. -
Peru/Andes Team 2010 (6)
The team had an amazing opportunity to minister to the people of Peru. A majority of time was spent in and around the city of Andahuaylas in the Andes Mountains. They worked on building a wall around a children's home. They also visited some very old ruins up in the mountains. Toward the end of the trip they visited a deaf ministry in the capital city of Lima. -
Turkey Team 2010 (5)
While in Turkey this team spent time praying over the city/country. They also were a great encouragement to folks there. -
Honduras Team 2010 (7)
This team spent a week in Honduras providing medical care and visiting children at a day care facility. The trip wasn't without challenges being delayed several hours in Columbus & Atlanta before arriving. -
El Salvador Team 2010 (6)
After braving the heavy rains and flooding from tropical storm, Alex, the team made it to their destination. They held a kid's carnival, provided three days of meals for 46 families and generally assisted the La Libertad church. -
Peru/Amazon Team 2010 (5)
This intense trip involved a 14 hour boat ride and a pirahna jumping into their boat before reaching the Shipibo people in the Amazon. They also spent time with the people of the deaf school in Lima. -
Azerbaijan Team 2010 (7)
A team of 5 individuals headed to Azerbaijan from June 26 - July 3. One of the outreaches involved heading up kid's soccer & volleyball clubs. They also visited a trade learning center. In addition they were able to visit with workers for times or refreshment, prayer and fun. -
Dominican Republic/Haiti Team 2010 (5)
The team helped build a house, visited families in the hills of Port Au Prince, and helped Mision Rescate (a clinic holding evangelism meetings, and passing out supplies inside the main police compound right across from the Presidential Palace!) Port Au Prince is still not doing well with food supplies, sanitation, water etc... They are now having trouble with gangs. These are awesome people w/ many needs (spiritually and financially.) The team can't wait to get back! Keep the people of DR/Haiti in your thoughts and prayers. -
Honduras Medical Team 2010 (2)
The Heritage Mission trip to Honduras was a great trip. The team ran medical clinics for 3 days in 3 different villages near Choluteca; Santa Catarina, San Martin and at Casa Hogar (for people in the near by villages). They saw 595 patients and also shared the gospel with everyone who came through. They visited a nearby university and did presentations in English classes on culture in America. Food was distributed to needy areas and the gospel shared as well. In total they shared their faith with 482 people and saw 229 decisions for Christ. -
Kenya Team 2010 (4)
Heritage sent a team of 8 people to Kijabe, Kenya from February 13 - 20. Various members of the team conducted a conference for a network of pastors, consulted with the senior management team at Kijabe Hospital, researched ways to serve the poor (from micro-finance initiatives and health care to providing for orphans), worked on software HMIS solutions for the hospital & conducted a management best practices retreat for the HIV team.
