Missions - Local

Missionsblessing people of all nations

The essence of Missions at Heritage is mobilizing God’s people to present the gospel to those who do not know Jesus - in our community, our country and the ends of the earth (Ps 67:12, Matt 28:18-20, Acts 1:1-8)

Monthly Missions Prayer - 3rd Mondays, 10-10:30 am, Heritage Prayer room.

Red Cross Blood Drive - Tuesday, Jan 24, 2012, 1-7pm; Auditorium
If you would like to volunteer as a recruiter or at the upcoming blood drive, please contact Sally Payne. The next blood drive will be held April 3, 2012.

YWCA Family Shelter Breakfast - third Saturday of each month
Prepare and serve breakfast for families in housing crisis. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to serve since children are welcome with parents. For more information or to sign up to serve, please email Tracie Bayer or call 614.638.7713.

Better Way Ministries - second Friday of each month
Better Way is an inner city ministry serving the needs of the poor in the Short North. Heritage provides a monthly meal and fellowship the second Friday of each month.  Volunteers prepare and serve meals to approximately 100 people and lead a time of spiritual community through singing and testimony.  To serve at BetterWay contact:  Alegria Calma or John Curfman, Team Leaders.   

Sterling House - second and third Sunday of each month
Worship service and visiting time with residents of an assisted living facility. An emphasis is placed on developing friendships and spiritual support for the elderly being served. All are welcome. Email John & Lorene Leis or call 614.882.0943.
    
Sanctuary Church’s SOMA! Tutoring - Tutors needed Now!

Linden STEM Academy recently received a Continuous Improvement evaluation which was two steps above their previous  Academic Emergency rating. Programs like SOMA! help to improve students reading ability, confidence and testing skills.

It just takes one hour a week to help a child truly succeed, but also build a relationship with an adult that sincerely cares about their academic success.

Sanctuary’s Urban Young Life Partnership - Ongoing
This is a new partner venture for Sanctuary. Volunteer Leaders are needed to establish ongoing relationships with students at Beechcroft, Northland and Brookhaven HS. To get connected, please contact either Aaron Luke or Amanda Epting at info@sanctuarycolumbus.com

Rahab’s Hideaway - Once per month - Volunteer days vary
A variety of volunteer opportunties are available for Life Groups and/or individuals. They include home maintenance/construction, mentoring,  transportation and Bible study. Click Here to gain insight on how best to engage in outreach with Rahab’s. Breakthrough Prison Ministries - Once per month - Volunteer days vary
Volunteers can choose to serve in 4 different capacities: 

  1. Teach using the Breakthrough Living Bible Studies series.
  2. Minister to prisoners via healing prayer.
  3. Assist as needed with the administration of a Bible correspondence course. 
  4. Help provide worship services.

Doma International  -  Once per month - Volunteer days vary
Once per month Pastor Joel Esala a group of young adults volunteer at Doma’s Bloom Recovery House. At present, they perform a variety of services designed to assist Doma with the upkeep of the property, both, inside and outside. Email Pastor Esala to connect with Doma via the Young Adults Group.  Throughout the year Doma offers a variety of events designed to educate the public on how to fight modern day slavery through dialogue, doing and exploring. Contact Amy Buchan to learn more or visit Doma’s website.
