Welcome to the Middle School Student Ministry at Heritage. Our hope is to create environments where students can experience God’s unconditional love, experience true community with peers, and be discipled by parents and older adults. We are prayerfully planning events to inform and equip students, parents, and volunteers.

We hope the information on this page will direct you to a place where parents and students can begin their faith journey as a Christ-follower. Our hope is that students will surrender their lives to Christ, listen daily to the Holy Spirit, and encourage others to accept the gift of God’s grace. If you have a desire to impact students for Christ, we have many volunteer opportunities in both the middle and high school ministries. The Student Ministry team is here to be a blessing to you and your family, so please contact us if you have questions at anytime.

On the Weekend:

Saturday (5p); Sunday (9a & 11a) | Room 110
Immerse students in the story of the scriptures, the story that is all about Jesus, in which we find out place, our purpose and our identity. Three year repeating curriculum:

  • Learn The Word-Scripture Teaching or Topical Teaching
  • Know The Word-Monthly verse memorization
  • In the Word-Silent reading of the Bible
  • About the Word-Weekly Apologetics Q&A

*If a student has a Bible, please have him or her bring it to class.

During the Week:

Encounter - Wednesdays | 6:30p-8p | Main Auditorium
Encounter is a more interactive and energizing version of what occurs on the weekend.  In this space we have exciting music videos, engaging games/activities, a relevant middle school message, and interactive small groups. Small groups are lead by parents and volunteers and provide a time for group discussion, prayer, and relational building.

Two times a month at Encounter we will have a discipleship focus where students are encouraged in their faith and guided toward Christ. Once a month we will have a gospel focus at Encounter - at these gatherings there will be a distinct focus to share the gospel with the students and encourage them to enter into a relationship with Jesus. There will also be an Event Encounter every month, where regular attenders will bring their friends to a low pressure, non-“churchy” environment to be loved and have fun.  Lastly, once every couple months, we will have a serving Encounter where the students learn to bless others through their actions.

Volunteer Opportunities

For Adults

If you would like to volunteer in the middle school ministry, there are many spaces to minister to students on the weekend and during the week.  Below is a list of some of the main needs, but if you are interested in serving in a way not listed here, please contact us.

Weekend Classes: Assistant, Activities Coordinator, and Small Group Leader

Wednesday: Games Coordinator, Small Group Leader, Snacks Coordinator, Kiosk Worker

To volunteer in the student ministry all volunteers need to turn in a completed background check form. You can put this form in a sealed envelope with ‘Student Ministry’ on the outside in the offering basket during any weekend service.

For Middle School Students

Team Timothy: This ministry provides service opportunities for all middle school students during weekend services, namely: Children’s Ministry Volunteer, AV Operator, Greeter, Welcome Desk Helper and more. To become part of the team students must register, attend all sessions, and meet the necessary requirements. See the “Events” page for upcoming training sessions.
