2011 Seasonal Serving Opportunities

The following volunteer serving opportunities are for individuals, families, and life groups who feel the call to reach out to the local community this holiday season:

WARM (Westerville Area Resource Ministry)   Help distribute or pack food for local Westerville families. Contact Patty Edwards at Patriciajedwards@gmail.com or

Better Way   Located in the Short North – Meet urgent needs in our urban communities by providing Christmas gift bags for the poor and needy. Community Development for All People  Volunteers may serve as “Santa’s Helpers” for the Christmas Shop 2011 event, held on Saturday, December 17, 2011. This delightful holiday party provides United Methodist Free Store families an opportunity to select, free of charge, new toys and clothing for their children.  Over 500 children receive gifts each year.

Feed My Sheep   Serve meals to the homeless  at the Outreach Center on Tuesday evenings 6:30-8p or 8:30-9:30p. Children and students are welcome to serve with an adult guardian. Contact John Mowry johnmowry@wowway.com or 614.370.9059

Fruit of the Vine   An outreach of Vineyard Columbus.  Serve meals at their food pantry on 5th Ave. or take food to homeless camps around the city. Wednesday or Thursday evenings.  Must be sixteen to serve. Contact Rhodie Shreve, 614.259.5441 or Rhodie.Shreve@vineyardcolumbus.org

Victory Ministries   2 opportunities:
 (Operation Pure Religion & Christmas Family Outreach):

(1) Deliver baskets, letters, and gifts to the disabled and elderly shut-ins on Dec 10.
(2) Collect toys, food, and gifts for distribution Dec 15 & 16.
 Need approximately 12-15 volunteers per weekday from Dec. 5 – Dec. 16 and need 60+ volunteers on Thursday, Dec. 15. Great opportunities for families to serve together.

PDHC is celebrating its 30th anniversary of helping women and babies in central Ohio.

Please join PDHC, and their special guest, Bruce Wilkinson, author of the New York Times #1 bestseller The Prayer of Jabez.
He is also the author of numerous other bestsellers, including A Life God Rewards, Secrets of the Vine, and The Dream Giver.   

This is a fundraising banquet for PDHC and you will be asked to donate to support the mission of PDHC.

WARM's Westerville Area Kids Lunch Club 

This summer the lunch club will be held at Ridgewood Park, Blendon Township, Huber Ridge Area, 5402 Buenos Aires, Westerville Ohio. Near Buenos Aires & Rte. 161. Kids will be served a balanced and nutritious lunch. All lunches are free and served on a first come, first served basis, rain or shine. After lunch, all children are encouraged to stay and enjoy an hour of recreation, education and enrichment activities free of charge.  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Scout and Youth volunteers are needed from 10:30am to 1:00pm weekdays, throughout the nine weeks of the program. Duties include assisting with: set up for lunch service, greeting children, serving food, helping with meal counts, area clean up, interacting with children, reading and playing with children, assisting the Activity Leaders who are adults and college students and college graduates. Middle and High Schoolers interested in serving as leaders on a regular basis are strongly urged to call!
