1. Read the scriptures and pray daily
2. The enemy will likely whisper lies in your mind. He will suggest that nothing really happened to you and you will always be trapped. If you believe Satan’s lies, you will be tempted to sin again. Resist Satan and he must flee. See James 4:7
3. Lone rangers are easier to defeat. You need to be connected to a small group and be linked up with an accountability partner. There are wonderful opportunities for growth at Heritage through participating in a Transformational Healing Group, DivorceCare, GriefShare, Begin Again, or any other ministries that may be pertinent.
4. If a sin persists, you may need more help. Another private session may be in order It is not uncommon for a person to seek further ministry. If a relapse occurs, quickly repent and confess to a forgiving Father. If sin persists, another session may be necessary. Please do not hesitate to call.
5. Be encouraged; there is no shame; you are in good company. After His resurrection Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. We note with interest Jesus appeared to her before any of the apostles! (Mark 16:9)
6. Even though your sins are forgiven and you have been set free through deliverance, there are still consequences to be dealt with. To maintain your freedom you must daily accept Jesus’ Lordship and discipline, painful as they may be.
7. Daily put on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:14-17 says: Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.
8. Flee from idolatry or anything that has become more important to you than God. 1 Corinthians 10:12-14 states, So, if you are standing firm, be careful that you do not fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tepted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.
