High School LeaderSHIP

The High School LeaderSHIP program is back for the 2010-11 school year! This is a program that is offered every 4 years and is developed and led by a parent team (Patti Hathaway, Gordon Jantzen, Jeff and Linda Hawk, Nancy Fisher). Four years ago 75 students graduated from this 30-week program. Based on its past accolades and excitement from high school students, we anticipate this year that we will have full registration.

The program’s overriding goal is To transform and equip the hearts and minds of our teens to grow towards mature Christian adulthood and to assist them in becoming godly leaders. Teaching them to become more and more in every way like Christ.” Ephesians 4:15. In short, the way we equip teens to deepen their relationship with Christ and become leaders is that we are purpose/mission focused, we model Christ-likeness, we are relevant to teens, and we encourage relationship building with parents.

Some of the topics we will cover include: Build Good Character, Be a Good Communicator, Breaking Strongholds, Doing Spiritual Warfare, Be Bold!, Build Good People Skills, Build Competence, Be a Servant Leader, Get a Vision. This program is highly relevant to teens and will provide practical tools to assist students in becoming mature believers. Our teachers include authors, professional speakers, business people, counselors, and others – all of whom have a passion for Christ and teens. So whether you have never been involved in the student ministry or you help at regular events this is a program you don’t want to miss!

Because this program is unlike other HS programs in that it requires a significant commitment from both students and their parents (and we have limited number of seats), we want to invite you and your student(s) to a mandatory program orientation on: August 1 or 15 at 11:00 am in Room 210 to learn more.

Registration closes on August 22 and the class begins on Sunday August 29 with an off-site team building experience at Summit Vision from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m..

The regular class will occur from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. every Sunday through the school year.

This class involves a high commitment from the students, and parents are expected to serve at some point during the year, please register for the orientation and class here: http://www.heritagecc.org/high-school-events/

Please register for the class only after you have attended the orientation, both the student and a parent must attend the orientation!

Summer Plans

As we look forward to the summer we have a few events coming up we wanted to let you know about:

  1. CT @ The Park will begin on Wednesday June 16th from 6:30-8pm at Alum Creek Park in Westerville. This will be a time to kick back, have fun and meet new people both student and adult leaders. We will be spending some time from 8-8:20pm praying for the upcoming year with any students who wants to stay and pray.  *All adult leaders will be leaving at 8:30pm. For students who drive themselves or who want to hang out beyond 8:30, adult leaders will not be present or responsible.
  2. During the month of July, there will be NO CrossTrainers during the 11am service. All students are encouraged to attend church with their families, or if your student is interested in finding a place to serve, please let Adam know.
  3. Cedar Point is scheduled for Wednesday, July 14th. We’ll travel by charter buses up to the park for the day. Cost is 45$ includes ticket and transportation; additional money will be needed for food, games, souvenirs, etc. Spots are, so register online at the High School Events Page.
  4. In August we’d like to host two parents meeting where we talk about the vision and plans for the whole year and take questions, comments or suggestions. This is the same meeting on two dates, so you only need to attend one, they are tentatively scheduled for August 15th at 12:30pm and August 21st at 6:30pm.

*** Currently there is nothing going on at the church on Sunday nights throughout the summer, unless your small group is still meeting. Therefore no students should be at the church after 7pm on Sunday nights.  Many students gather at Serendipity but we wanted to let you know this is not an official HCC gathering and THERE ARE NO ADULT LEADERS PRESENT. We will be doing something on Sunday nights in the fall, plan to attend one of the August Parents meetings to hear more about it.
