Welcome to the Heritage High School Ministry!
This ministry’s prayer is that God would start a movement of students in this church and surrounding area who are passionate about Christ and living out his love in the world. We want to be a ministry that partners well with parents. So we will do our best to communicate well, listen well, and pray for all of you parents. Please read the brief descriptions below to see what we are doing throughout the year, but the best way to see if any of the ministries below are for you or your student is to come check them out! Send us an e-mail beforehand and we’ll be sure to come meet you and show you around.
If you want to be informed and reminded of what’s going in the high school ministry, please send an e-mail to Lauren Lewis, and she’ll add you to our parent e-mail list. If you are a person who is interested in volunteering, then please contact us and get involved! We want to have a team of college students and adults who are passionate about investing their gifts and lives into students who are in this crucial and foundational stage of life. Our desire is to see young men and women be changed by Christ and go impact the world for Him. We’re here to be a blessing for you, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
MINISTRIES
Sunday Night Worship Service-ELEVATE
Sundays |7pm-830pm |Main Auditorium
This worship service is geared towards creating a welcoming environment where students can meet Christ and grow in their faith. The format will have the DNA of the former CrossTrainers gathering with fun skits/games, worship music, challenging teachings relevant for both believers and non-believers, and a relaxed hang out atmosphere afterwards. Every Second Sunday this gathering will not happen and students will be asked to do a service project sometime that weekend. See more details below.
LeaderSHIP
Sundays |10:45am |Room 210
Pre-registration and orientation attendance is mandatory.
This 30-week program’s overriding goal is to transform and equip the hearts and minds of our teens to grow towards mature Christian adulthood and to assist them in becoming godly leaders. Teaching them to become “more and more in every way like Christ.” Ephesians 4:15. This program is highly relevant to teens and will provide practical tools to assist students in becoming mature believers. Our teachers include authors, professional speakers, business people, counselors, and others – all of whom have a passion for Christ and teens.
Service Opportunities
Every Second Weekend
We want to create a culture among students where serving others is expected and the norm. Serving is essential to our faith. We will cancel our worship service every second weekend of the month to go serve. In a culture that glorifies self, we want students to learn to be selfless as Christ was selfless for us. We are looking for parents to help find and head up these times once a month.
Small Groups
Available for all students. Groups are divided up by age and gender and meet on various nights throughout the week. Most of these groups are led by young adult leaders and the groups consist of doing life together and growing together through studying and reading the Scriptures. We believe that small group community where students can be transparent, honest, and hold each other accountable is essential for faith in high school. If you would be interested in opening up your home for a small group to meet in or being a small group leader, please let us know!
Big Events
Big event experiences are places where life change happens. God does something unique when students are away from the distractions and routines of everyday life. The Fall Retreat, Winter Escape, and Camp Living Stones are three events where we pray that students will come back transformed by Christ. Unfortunately, all of these events cost money, so please start budgeting now to help make events possible for your students. We will always do our best to find ways to help students to go on these events, so please don’t hesitate to ask if money is the only obstacle.
Volunteer Opportunities
If you would like to volunteer in the high school ministry, there are many spaces to minister to students at Elevate, LeaderSHIP, in LifeGroups, and at any of our events. We love providing opportunities for people to teach and train our students. If you are interested in being a part of what God is doing in our high school ministry, print off an application and turn it in to our team.
