Help for Parents

Parenting Forums will continue this fall with three offerings:

     Oct 5 -   Spiritual Training Begins at Home 
                   Speakers: Mike & Lynn Radigan

Lynn Radigan is the author of the excellent book, Pass it On: Developing the Spiritual Lives of Children, and she and her husband are the parents of six kids. Mike serves as a Heritage elder and Lynn serves on the Executive Team of the church. Many parents feel ill-equipped to help their children come to know God and grow in their relationship with Him. We are privileged to have the Radigans available to share their experiences with us.

     Oct 19 - Disciplining God’s Way
                   Speakers: Lori and Matt Liston

Matt and Lori Liston are the directors of the children’s ministry of Heritage. Matt has served as a teacher and as a school principal, and Lori also has extensive experience working with kids. They will help us discover loving and effective ways to discipline children to enable them to learn and grow. This presentation willl also equip parents to avoid the extremes of permissiveness on the one hand, and authoritarian, dictatorial parenting on the other.

     Nov 16 - Navigating the Legal and Practical Issues of Adoption
                   Speaker: Britani Galloway

Britani Galloway is an attorney who has extensive knowledge about adoption issues that she will be sharing with us. Some of the topics to be covered are as follows:

> What is adoption?

> Who can adopt? Who can be adopted?

> What are the types of adoption?

> Public agency adoption

> Private agency adoption

> Private adoption

> Interstate adoption

> International adoption

> Birth mother and birth father rights

Each Parenting Forum session will be on Wednesday night (during the Awana program), from 6:45pm-8pm, in Room 102. Both individuals and couples are welcome.
