Groups for Healing Past Hurts

At times, the hurts and disappointments of the past continue to affect our present behavior. Believers can get stuck in their growth, often repeating negative patterns of thinking and behaving, and not knowing how to overcome them. When this occurs, people begin to feel discouraged, guilt-ridden, and alone. They often wonder, “Why is it that I struggle so much? Where is God’s power to set me free?”

We are fortunate to be able to offer some life-changing groups for men and women using resources created by Dr. Terry Wardle of Ashland Theological Seminary.

There are 13-week groups called Transformational Healing Groups and these groups involve men meeting with men and women with women. In these groups a person experiences God’s power in the context of a loving, Christian community.

Each session includes four parts:

  • Spiritual component
  • Teaching component
  • Experiential component
  • Weekly homework assignments

With both group and one-on-one support available each participant is encouraged to connect with God and allow His healing grace to set them free from destructive habits, hurts, and hang-ups. These groups are limited to no more than 6 people and it is expected that group members will attend all the sessions.

There is also a fee for the workbook and two books used during these sessions. However, please don’t let money be the reason you can’t participate. Financial assistance could be available upon request.

Heritage attenders can apply to participate in a transformational healing group until June 30, 2012. For an application, contact hcctransformationalhealing@gmail.com.
