It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.  -Paul to the Ephesians

The Equipping Ministry exists to build up the body of Christ at Heritage “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” We recognize that this is a huge undertaking—one that will never be fully accomplished—and can only be pursued in the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we partner with God in his transformational work in the lives of the individuals, families, and of the whole congregation that worships here. This is how we do that:

e4

e4 is our primary equipping process for establishing the foundations of our faith at Heritage. It is an intensive course comprised of 3 tracks: text, context, and soul. Each track lasts 10 weeks. It is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the most important elements of Christian faith and practice. The e4 program is open to all Participating Members of the church. To navigate to the e4 journal, please click here.

alpha

Alpha is a ten-week course designed to introduce you to the basics of Christianity. If you have recently become a Christian, or if you have not yet decided to follow Jesus but you’re curious about who he is, Alpha is the best place for you to start. It is a no-pressure, safe environment to explore your questions about God, the Bible, Jesus, and the Church.

The next Alpha course begins with an Introductory Dinner on September 14 at 6:30. If you want to be a part of Alpha, please register for both the Introductory Dinner and the Course itself.

sunday am classes

Like many churches, we offer adult Sunday School classes. Some of these classes have been grouped together into a curriculum called e4.core, which was offered as a unit in the 2009-2010 ministry year. In the 2010-2011 ministry year, we intend to offer classes that lie outside of that curriculum.

We will be offering three classes in the fall of 2010:

  • LOST, Spirituality & Culture | 9/5 - 10/10 | Sundays @ 9:00am | Room 101
    • This will be an in-depth look at the spiritual themes of the hit TV show LOST and how Christians should interact with popular culture. This class is open to everyone, but it is highly encouraged that you have a working familiarity with the show.
  • Understanding Scripture | 10/17 - 11/21 | Sundays @ 9:00am | Room 101
    • This will be a practical guide to learning how to read and know the Bible well. If you have ever had trouble making sense of the Bible, or if you just feel too intimidated to read it, this class will make God’s Word accessible to you.
  • Contagious Christianity | 10/31 - 12/5 | Sundays @ 10:30am | Room 101
    • This program was developed by Willow Creek Community Church, and is proven to help you reach out to nonChristian friends and family with the love of Jesus.

baptism

Baptism is one of the most important, and exciting, steps we can take in our walk with Jesus. At Heritage, we do public baptisms once every quarter—so you’re never more than 3 months away from a baptism service! To be baptized at Heritage, we ask that you register for, and attend, the baptism class, which generally occurs one or two weeks before the baptism weekend. For more information on having your children baptized, please contact our Children’s Director, Matt Liston.

To register for any and all classes and programs, please click here to navigate to the Equipping Events page, where you will find a list of programs currently accepting registration.
