“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”
-Paul to the Philippians
Our purpose is the transformation of God’s people—the individuals, families, and the congregation that gathers at Heritage Christian Church. We believe that knowledge from God applied through love bears the fruit of righteousness that He so desperately wants to see in our lives. We seek this knowledge from God through the collaborative study of God’s Word, emphasizing humility and obedience with the hope of transformation through the Holy Spirit.
To this end, the Equipping Ministry will be sponsoring many courses this fall. Most of these courses are offered through other areas of ministry, such as Care, W-Life, and Family Life. There are two courses, however, that will be offered through the Equipping Ministry. They are:
Galatians: The Letter that Changed the World | 5:00pm room 101
The book of Romans is often credited with holding the truths that launched the Reformation, but the letter of Galatians was equally important in stirring Martin Luther’s heart and mind toward grace and faith as the only means of salvation. In this seven week course we will look at the core message of Galatians, seeking to understand what it meant for the church of Galatia who first received it, what it meant for Martin Luther 1500 years later, and what it means for us today. Come join us as we kick-off this class on January 3rd at 5:00pm in room 101.
Cheating on God: The Warning of Hosea | 9:00am room 101
How does God feel when we abandon him? What happens inside God’s heart when we worship other gods and pursue other goals? The nation of Israel constantly engaged in idolatry—the worship of gods other than the one true God—and to God that felt like adultery. Hosea understood this all too well, as his own life was ripped apart by an adulterous wife. In this seven week course, we will hear Hosea’s words afresh, and hear his call to remain faithful to the only true God. Come join us as we kick-off this class on January 4th at 9:00am in room 101.
