Begin Again Candidate
Requirements and Commitments

Has deep pain caused by sin become unbearable to you and your spouse? Are both of you wanting to make your marriage work but struggling to support each other in the pursuit of oneness? Then Begin Again may be the best healing environment for your marriage. Other requirements for a successful restoration are shown below. Candidate Requirements

1. Usually a counselor, ministry director or pastoral referral is best, but not limiting.

2. Both husband and wife must want their marriage to be restored, and both must be willing to work at it.

3. Both husband and wife must commit to attending all the sessions.

4. Begin Again is a Christ-centered program. Regular church attendance is preferred.

5. Applicants need to review the Begin Again FAQ that answers so many questions. Both husband and wife must be in agreement to the content.

6. Both husband and wife should be willing to attend professional counseling prior to Begin Again if recommended by the Begin Again Directors or Family Life pastor.

7. Active in a Life, Home or Support Group for accountability purposes is preferred.

8. Begin Again is not the place for couples dealing with addictions, domestic violence or substance abuse. If any of these are present in the marriage, they must be professionally addressed. Only after this will the couple be considered as a candidate for Begin Again.

9. A follow up meeting with the Family Life Pastor is required once you have completed all the sessions.

Candidate Commitments

In applying for participation in Begin Again Restoration Mentoring, we commit to the following:

1. We commit to attend all sessions of the Begin Again Retreat and to complete all of the assignments given during the sessions.

2. We commit to attend all of the subsequent follow-up sessions and actively participate in all of the restoration mentoring process.

3. We commit to complete all of the homework assignments given during the follow-up sessions.

4. We commit to begin or to continue in professional Christian counseling if deemed necessary understanding that restoration mentoring is not a substitute for the counseling process.

5. If not currently in a support group, we commit to find and regularly attend one after the session for accountability.

6. We commit to be willing to work at our marriage with humble, teachable hearts.
